Kingston Wheelers Sporting 14 - event cancelled

From the timekeeper:

"Kingston Wheelers event abandoned.

Just received email from Nicola Wadham

New road works today have closed Ripley Lane and the course is impassable.

Peter reviewed the alternative course but there are also new road works with traffic lights on the Effingham section.

We are very sad - after last year and with a record field."

Redhill CC event 21/2/10

From Frank Cubis (Time Keeper)

Redhill CC
... to get to Dorking to time the Redhill CC 18 mile event this morning. However, there were new road works on the course so the organizer had all ready cut 4 miles off the course but then decided to abandon the event entirely due to the likely chance of ice around the Holmbury St Mary area. I didn’t notice too many glum faces at the decision.

Jody Crawforth - Evans Cycles RT - District Hill Climb Champion

Redhill local Jody Crawforth, a member of the Evans Cycles Race Team has been crowned the Cycling Time Trials 'CTT London South District Hill Climb Champion' after his winning time of 1-47.53 at the Bec Hill Climb.

Andy Avis, Chairman of the London South District Cycling Time Trials announced the Championship not long after Jody successfully led the Evans Cycles Race Team to podium victory of the Four Hills weekend on 22nd & 23rd October. Chairman Avis, along with retired District Secretary Chris Watts, will present Jody with the Championship medal on Friday 25th November.

The Four Hills Weekend is a real hill climb championship challenge, traditionally the Bec CC and the Catford CC held their events on the morning and afternoon on same day, with Brighton Mitre’s two events on the Saturday, the four events stretch the teams to their limits. The climax of the Four Hills Weekend, the Bec Hill Climb, held on a hill resembling an Alpine Tour Stage, attracted riders far and wide. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, spectators and fans lined the hill to create a fantastic atmosphere, giving riders encouragement to put in 100% effort in their final climb.

Jody who is also an employee of Crawley based Evans Cycles said ‘I'm delighted and a little bit surprised to be crowned District Hill Climb Champion - I had a free weekend in between cyclo-cross races and decided to enter the hill climbs! It was a really good weekend, especially as we won the team prize, and each event had such a good atmosphere the crowd made everyone try harder.
