London South DC AGM

LONDON SOUTH DISTRICT COUNCIL

Notice is hereby given of the
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
& EVENTS DATE FIXING CONFERENCE FOR YEAR 2013
to be held on

Saturday 6th October 2012 at 2:00pm

Northgate, Crawley, West Sussex

(ample parking for both cycles and vehicles. Directions to venue will be circulated with the Agenda).

Items for the Agenda must be forwarded to the District Secretary by 17th September. If you want to change anything about the way your sport is run, then this is your opportunity. All items submitted will be discussed at the AGM and if accepted by the delegates, these are then forwarded for consideration by all Districts at the National Council Meeting on Sunday 2nd December 2012. Please come along on 6th October to elect your officials and delegates to the National Council, let them have your views and to show support to your District.

There are currently some 70 clubs, trade teams and associations affiliated through the London South District. The quorum for the AGM is one third representation.

There are great pressures on all those who use the public highways, so if you want our sport to continue please ensure you send 2 delegates to the AGM.

(Incidentally, if we don't get the quorum, then those who have made the effort to turn up are inconvenienced by having to wait an extra half hour before the meeting can commence.)

Charles Robson

In case you hadn’t heard the sad news, Charles passed away on Saturday 9th June. Apparently the news wasn’t released to the cycling world until last Friday. I understand that the funeral is to be held on Tuesday 2nd July at All Souls Church, Susans Lane, Eastbourne at about 2p.m. I’ll advise exact details as soon as known.

Full London South 2012 Calendar

Calendar now up here or off the homepage.

I've copied last year's calendar and renumbered the entries, removing the events that have gone and adding any new ones and, of course, changing day and date as appropriate.

I have had the time to check the day, date, distance, course and promoter columns today. What I haven't yet had the time to do is check the number of entrants assigned to each event, or the start time - some events start at the same time each year, others are dependent on other clubs using the course at the same time, so vary from year to year.

As my proofreader died last year, I will appreciate if anyone can point out mistakes/errors but wait till the end of the week. Also my Dad died last week, so I won't have a chance to check the rest of this until Wednesday.

Corrections to the webmaster at the site email address, please or if you know my own email address.

Cheers,
Lisa

Brighton Excelsior CC early season elevens event

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year

I want to let you know that on the 22nd January 2012 from 10:30am till 12pm in Washington Village Hall, we are having our early season elevens event, which we would like to invite you and your club mates too.

It’s our way of having all our club mates, and friends from other clubs come and join us for a bacon butty and cuppa and catch up with all the gossip and news before the racing season really starts with the Southdowns Bikes event on the 4th and 5th February

There will be a RAFFLE full of things that you just did not even know that you wanted.

Plus the big news is that the 2012 Yellow Handbook will be on sale.

Why don’t you use it as your training ride, refreshment break or your weekend club run breakfast stop, either way you are guaranteed a warm welcome and a hot drink.

Please can you pass on this invite to your club mates and I look forward to seeing you then.

Take care.

Su B
Brighton Excelsior CC

PS: it’s also the time of year when I do my best to update the course records sheet, so if you either broke a course record/promoted an event where a record was broken/have a club mate that has broken a record/was riding in an event where the course record was broken.

PLEASE let me know.

Thanks Su B
