Stolen Signs
Removal is theft or vandalism and a crime. Any such instance should be reported to the local police at the time with a cross reference to the CTT contact in Surrey or Sussex. It is unlikely that our contact would be in a position to investigate, but a reference number should be sought for every instance.
I will circulate a letter to Club Hon Secs to that effect. This is a serious matter, since missing signs might contribute to an accident, and we are entitled to police back-up.
I will be circulating minutes from the last meeting shortly. In the meantime, since this is a serious matter, I would be obliged if members could pass this message on to their contacts at clubs.
Best regards,
Brian
District Secretary

Blog Upgrade
As those of you who have posted recently will know, Blogger has been pushing "New Blogger".
All the blogs have now been moved over to New Blogger, but this means (I think) that for you to post, you will all have to create "Google" accounts from your original Blogger accounts. It's a bit of a hassle, so my apologies, but in the long term it will be beneficial. I also think that the Google accounts will allow other possibilities with the club sites, so it is all for the best really.
I believe that next time you log in to post, with your old account details, you will be prompted to create a new account based on an email address. It seems to be fairly straightforward, but if anyone has any problems please get in touch and I will try to talk you through it.
Please make a note of your new username and password, as I will no longer be able to look usernames up for those who forget (I think).
Finally, anyone who hasn't yet signed up for the Blog and would like to, please email me for an invitation.

If you are unsure of the wording or exactly what you want to say, give me a call or e-mail.
Despite what you might hear or read CTT is a democracy and you have the chance to change things.
There are 72 clubs in London South 2/3rds of these must attend to allow the meeting to go ahead on time. Each club can send along two delegates. (more can turn up if you want but only two from each club can vote or put forward to the district committee).
The district Committee is made up of ordinary members. We have 5 meetings a year. If you think that you want to get involved, or want to find out how things are done, or want to try and improve things. Now is your chance!
Each year there is a desperate shortage of people. Turn up as a delegate for your club and say that you want to be nominated. We need ten ordinary members so there is no pressure to take on huge tasks.
There is plenty of parking and there will also be tea and cakes.
See you there.

Dave Stokes - Crawley Wheelers
Dave was for many, many years a stalwart member of the London South District Committee, and played an active role in all time trial activities. He was a regular and well liked Time Keeper and Course Measurer and officiated at numerous major events, including his consistent appearance as Timekeeper for the Sussex Cyclists' Association 12 hour. He loved the longer distance events especially, and acted both as Timekeeper & Course Controller for the Brighton Mitre's Centenary Year 24 Hour event in 1994 - a task he undertook again five years later for the Mitre's National RTTC Championship 24.
Accompanied by his devoted wife Peggy, his blue & white campervan could be seen at countless events around Sussex, and beyond: from the local Club event to various Open & Association promotions. Dave also was a dynamic supporter of the Luton Arrow events and also the Icknield Road Club 12 hour, where he often officiated. As an Event Promoter Dave was in charge on no less than 22 occasions of his Club's famous Good Friday event - regarded by many as the true "pipe opener" of the season!
There is no doubt Dave's wisdom and formidable experience will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to have known him.

Jody Crawforth - Evans Cycles RT - District Hill Climb Champion
Andy Avis, Chairman of the London South District Cycling Time Trials announced the Championship not long after Jody successfully led the Evans Cycles Race Team to podium victory of the Four Hills weekend on 22nd & 23rd October. Chairman Avis, along with retired District Secretary Chris Watts, will present Jody with the Championship medal on Friday 25th November.
The Four Hills Weekend is a real hill climb championship challenge, traditionally the Bec CC and the Catford CC held their events on the morning and afternoon on same day, with Brighton Mitre’s two events on the Saturday, the four events stretch the teams to their limits. The climax of the Four Hills Weekend, the Bec Hill Climb, held on a hill resembling an Alpine Tour Stage, attracted riders far and wide. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, spectators and fans lined the hill to create a fantastic atmosphere, giving riders encouragement to put in 100% effort in their final climb.
Jody who is also an employee of Crawley based Evans Cycles said ‘I'm delighted and a little bit surprised to be crowned District Hill Climb Champion - I had a free weekend in between cyclo-cross races and decided to enter the hill climbs! It was a really good weekend, especially as we won the team prize, and each event had such a good atmosphere the crowd made everyone try harder.
